Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can you develop old or expired film?

Yes! Expired film can still be developed, and sometimes it creates beautiful, unpredictable results—like color shifts, grain, or fogging. That said, how well it turns out depends on how the film was stored and how old it is. If you're unsure, send it in. We’re always happy to scan whatever we can get from the roll.

  • What kinds of film do you accept?

We process 35mm, 120, and 110 film in color (C-41), black & white, and E-6 slide film. Just shoot, drop off or send, and we’ll take care of the rest.

  • Can I get my negatives back?

Yes — your negatives are always handled with care. You may choose to pick them up within 30 days of processing or have them shipped back to you. At the time you place your order, please select whether you’d like your negatives returned or discarded after scanning. We offer several handling options for returned film, including cut and sleeved, uncut in the original canister, continuous sleeving, and archival sleeving.

  • What happens if my roll is blank or has another issue?

f your roll comes back blank, we’ll let you know right away. Because film development requires chemistry, time, and labor, the processing fee is non-refundable. Please note that we do not issue refunds for scanning of blank rolls or for blank rolls discovered after processing. However, we’re happy to provide in-store credit toward a future order for any rolls that cannot be scanned due to being completely blank. If there’s another issue with your film, we’ll contact you to discuss the best solution.

  • Why would my roll turn out blank?

Common causes of blank rolls include:

    • Expired or damaged film
    • Underexposure (especially in low light without flash)
    • Film loading issues
    • Camera malfunctions (e.g. sticky shutter, film advance problems, flash sync issues)
    • Severe light leaks
    • Shooting in low light with a single-use camera without firing the flash
